This course requires candidates to explore the significant issues and relevant research on leading change to improve student learning. Candidates will actively investigate such topics of contemporary concern as theories of change, time management, use of data, empowering professional learning communities, as well as using effective communication to realize data driven change. Candidates will also use their knowledge and skills in responding to the needs of diverse learners and educational mandates.

Candidates will explore the interrelationship of change, culture and ethical /authentic leadership. This course will provide candidates with new insights into the key ideas and critical components of proactive leadership and ways to assure that schools under their leadership “teach all students.” This course will provide the candidate an opportunity to envision and design a process for leading a team of teachers in planning and implementing an adaptive change to improve student learning.
