Technology

Calling all K-4 educators! Are you eager to incorporate technology into your classroom in a thoughtful and engaging way? Or perhaps you support K-4 teachers and seek inspiration on how to effectively integrate educational technology?

Join us for an exciting workshop led by Rachel Khan, a seasoned second-grade teacher, and Casey Daigle, an enthusiastic edtech expert. Together, we'll explore a range of edtech topics tailored specifically for K-4 classrooms.

This workshop is designed as an asynchronous online learning experience, accommodating educators who use minimal tech in their classrooms. All you need is a Google account and a curious mindset.

We'll focus on leveraging Google tools and other SDPA-approved apps, providing you with practical strategies and resources to enhance your teaching. No need to worry about having a 1:1 device ratio; even two devices—a Chromebook or iPad—will suffice.

What can you expect? Every two weeks, we'll share insightful posts specifically tailored to elementary edtech. The first post each month will introduce new concepts, resources, and strategies for you to explore. In the second post each month, we'll present engaging challenges to encourage you to put your skills into practice and foster meaningful discussions among participants. Your participation and engagement in the posted work and discussions work toward earning the course PDPs. Teachers may sign up at any time during the year, but will need to complete the assignments and work from all months before earning PDPs.

Monthly Themes:

  • Sept – Establishing protocols & routines for Edtech
  • Oct – Collaborative white boards
  • Nov – Gamification in tiny steps
  • Dec – Seasonal templates & Selecting apps that respect data privacy
  • Jan – Apps for teachers to create compelling visual presentations
  • Feb – Book Creator
  • March – Video: Curation & creation
  • AprilArts and Culture to expand your classroom & content
  • May – Final products due (to receive PDPs)

Get ready to embark on a transformative journey into the world of edtech. Join us and unlock the full potential of technology in K-4 classrooms!
