As educators, our goal is to assist students in developing competencies that carry them beyond the school doors into a productive, inspired life. We will explore how social and emotional learning (SEL) practices can encourage students to develop skills such as empathy, social awareness, and emotional regulation.
Many times, educators believe that social-emotional skills are an "add-in" to the classroom curriculum. Often, these are "fit in" when possible and are not exciting and challenging lessons. This course focuses on teaching educators how to interweave these discussions, lessons, and projects across the curriculum while enhancing rather than subtracting from academic rigor.
This highly interactive session will have participants experimenting with SEL techniques that will promote the development of executive function and social skills and impact academic success in students. Guaranteed to be two fun-filled days with lots of laughter and learning!
15 Special Ed PDPs can be earned upon attending both sessions and completing a final project outlining how you will include the learned techniques in your curriculum. Participants will submit ideas and detailed plans for a three-month time period.
Please note: lunch will be provided. Please notify us of any dietary restrictions during registration.
