Description
This SEI Teacher Full Course equips participants with strategies to support ELLs' access to content instruction through evidence-based reading, writing and vocabulary interventions. The course includes both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences. Successful completion of this course qualifies participants to apply for the Sheltered English Instruction (SEI) Endorsement.
Participants must have daily access to students in a classroom during the semester the course is taken.
The course schedule accommodates 12 synchronous sessions, a capstone project presentation, asynchronous online work between sessions, and three make-up sessions.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the rigor, pace, and intensity of the course, which leads to an Endorsement from the State for teachers, you may NOT miss more than two sessions. Missing MORE than two class sessions will result in a failing grade.
Audience
K-12 Massachusetts core academic teachers who are seeking the mandatory SEI Endorsement for their license.
Credits
Participants who complete the course will be eligible for 67.5 PDPs. Participants can take the course for three graduate credits through Fitchburg State University at an additional cost.
