History

Emerging America is developing Reform to Equal Rights: K-12 Disability History Curriculum with support from a Library of Congress' Teaching with Primary Sources grant and an Expand Massachusetts Stories grant from Mass Humanities. The curriculum will be available free at EmergingAmerica.org in February 2023, following a teacher pilot.

Get a free orientation to the draft history and civics curriculum on September 28, from 4:00-5:00pm Eastern Time.

After the orientation, you may then choose if you want to join the curriculum pilot. (You would submit some additional information to Emerging America following the orientation. There is no cost and no payment for participation). Please note: you will be sent the link to the pilot upon registering.

Pilot teachers will:

  • Teach one or more lessons between September 2022 and January 2023.
  • Choose which lessons to teach.
  • Provide written feedback online.
  • Earn 10 PDPs (Massachusetts) on completion of written feedback. (Teachers from other states will get a letter documenting participation). PDPs will be rewarded after completion of curriculum pilot.
