The N8tive Ed. Practices PLC that began in 2021 has been invited to join the Native American Teacher Retention Initiative [NATRI] Cohort of Educators in a learning community on Canvas!
The course is intended for local and regional educators, school professionals, institutions, and organizations on Wampanoag homeland This course aims to introduce participants to Mashpee Wampanoag culture and history led by Wampanoag citizens using traditional and contemporary Indigenous pedagogies. Participants will leave feeling more confident in their abilities to bring these histories and pedagogies into the classroom and to understand the realities faced by many Indigenous students, educators, and citizens in their schooling experience both historically and today.
The Mashpee Wampanoag Education Department welcomes educators, school professionals, and institutions across the Dawnland to participate starting January, 9th, 2025. CES is grateful to be welcomed along with you!
You can register for one of two tiers:
- Tier 1: 45 PDPs for $255.00. Attendees must attend 13 of the 16 sessions (unless other arrangements are prearranged), participate online, and submit a final product
- Tier 2: Earn 2 Graduate Credits from Fitchburg State University for $255. Participants must attend 13 of the 16 sessions (unless other arrangements are prearranged), participate online, and submit a final product.
Attendees will meet for 16 sessions. including a half-day field trip to tour the Mashpee Wampanoag Community Sites. Meetings will be a mix of hybrid, online, and in-person. You can find more information on the meeting schedule here.
