In this two-day course, participants will gain knowledge and understanding of alternative formats of traditional text for students with print-based disabilities (NIMAS/NIMAC, Bookshare, Learning Ally, etc.), how to create accessible materials, and learn about built-in accessibility features as well as a variety of free and subscription-based AT tools/apps for Google Chrome and the iPad. This course will discuss supporting technology integration for students with specific learning disabilities and best practices for Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in the classroom environment.
Participants should plan to bring their own laptop/Chromebook and/or iPad in order to get the most out of the hands-on components of this course.
