During this 2-day workshop, participants will learn how Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) can provide support and increase engagement for students with little or no speech. Participants will explore ways to encourage student participation across content areas and provide meaningful access to the curriculum. The effective use of AAC and related Assistive Technology (AT) supports have been shown to improve student progress. This workshop will include an overview of current technology for AAC and AT, strategies and best practices for selection and implementation within the classroom and other settings; and the team process for identification of AAC and AT services.
