Assessment is essential to quality teaching. We need to know where our students are on the road, how effective our instructional strategies are, and what challenges we need to consider as we build lessons and activities. In this workshop, participants will explore strategies educators can use to effectively assess English-language learners. We'll talk about purpose, priorities, feedback, reflection, and how to think about the concept of assessment as learning. Participants will learn how to discover things of mutual interest to all their students, craft activities and tasks that assess students equitably, help students do their own assessment, and support students in expressing their learning.
Please note: Lunch will be provided. Indicate any dietary restrictions during registration.
