Action research helps teachers identify focused challenges in the classroom and develop and test solutions based on evidence, using an ongoing cycle of observation, data collection, reflection, and refinement.
While this is a highly effective tool for problem solving and practice improvement, many teachers feel they lack the time or freedom to undertake it in a formal way while they’re in the middle of teaching. This workshop will provide tips and methods to make action research accessible to busy educators.
This 2-session workshop will approach the four-step process of action research in a way that supports you in taking advantage of the data-rich environment that already exists in your classroom. Participants will have the opportunity to draw from their actual classroom experiences to identify and craft meaningful questions to explore, collect useful data and interpret it thoughtfully, and use what they uncover in practical and applied ways to make the experience and outcomes of their students better.
