Brilliant Minds, Caring Hearts: The CES Podcast

Conversations with Education’s Changemakers

Join co-hosts Suzanne Judson-Whitehouse and Elkie Burnside as they talk with the brilliant, funny, and inspiring professionals who share their educational expertise in a variety of ways at the Collaborative for Educational Services (CES), a public nonprofit educational service agency in western Massachusetts. These conversations highlight important perspectives and insights on diverse education-related topics. Tune in twice a month for a new and thought-provoking episode for educators and for anyone who cares about preK-12 education. Topics range from showing up authentically in educational settings, developing strategies to approach learning with digital tools, exploring ways to find joy in difficult work, developing youth leadership and engagement strategies, and more.

The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) offers direct and support services to its 37 member school districts and to state and district-level clients and partners across New England. The work of CES includes a range of direct programs and services for children and youth, particularly those at risk; and professional development, coaching and consulting projects for educators, schools and districts, and community organizations. We are excited to have this new way to share all that we are learning through the work we do and from the people who do it.

Suzanne Judson-Whitehouse

Suzanne is the CES Online Learning Manager. She leads the development of online courses with a focus on inclusive practices for online course development, faculty training and multi-media and production services in support of online instructional programs. She works collaboratively with subject matter experts and educators to create engaging and accessible online learning experiences. Suzanne’s interests lie in the fields of blended learning, technology integration in K-12 schools, makerspaces and creativity in education, games and gamification, and adult pedagogy.

Elkie Burnside

Elkie is the CES Online Learning Team Instructional Designer. In this role, they collaborate with other team members and subject matter experts to create online courses in a variety of delivery methods. They have 24+ years of teaching and training experience in a variety of environments, including K-12 schools (international and US-based); undergraduate and graduate higher education; digital, multimodal editing, and publishing; and professional training and consulting for a variety of communication specializations. Elkie’s interests include creating quality online learning opportunities, considering marginalized perspectives in education, and developing accessibility practices for instructional spaces.
