SPIFFY Steering Committee member Kris Hoag, Program Director for BOAT (Belchertown Overcoming Adversity Together), was recently featured on the SADO.D. (Support After a Death by Overdose) website for her work in the community. In her interview, Kris talks about how crucial it has been for BOAT to have the support of key stakeholders in the town of Belchertown, like the Chief of Police, the School Head Nurse, and the head of the Board of Health, all as members of the coalition. Connecting with community residents and reducing stigma towards harm reduction are two of the main factors that Kris credits towards the growth of the coalition from the 18 members when she started with BOAT in 2020 to the 65 active members involved today.
