On May 8, our partners at the South Hadley Drug and Alcohol Prevention Coalition hosted Leslie Green, LICSW, from Boston Children’s Hospital for a presentation on the Neurobiology of Teen Substance Use. After providing a brief overview of brain development, Green discussed how the dopamine receptors in the teen brain make young people especially vulnerable to substance misuse, as well as how the THC in cannabis can interfere with neuron function and growth. It was a fascinating and engaging presentation: thank you to South Hadley coalition leader Susan Cook for organizing this presentation!
