Easthampton’s Kelley Brown was the invited speaker at ESE Commissioner Mitchell Chester’s all staff meeting this past week, sharing her insights regarding professional development, curriculum frameworks and educator evaluation. Chester’s weekly newsletter noted that “staff were struck by Kelley’s enthusiasm and commitment to create a student-driven classroom, ensuring that students can access content and be fully engaged.”
The 2010 Preserve American History Teacher of the Year, Brown is also the past head of the Social Studies department at Easthampton High School, and a frequent instructor of professional development courses at the Collaborative for Educational Services (CES). Her CES work includes this summer’s America Comes of Age (1900 – 1940). Brown holds a BA in History from Amherst College and an M.Ed. from UMass Amherst.
