Thirty-four Connecticut Valley Superintendents Roundtable (CVSR) members represented their Western Massachusetts school districts on Friday in discussions with legislators at the Delaney House in Holyoke, MA. Superintendents discussed their concerns with state senators and representatives about topics of vital importance to their districts. Of particular concern were the timing and number of unfunded educational mandates in Massachusetts, and their impact on school districts and educators. Attendees also spoke about the grave financial impact on Western Mass districts of the reduction in Regional School Transportation Reimbursements; and the legislators pledged to pursue steps to restore funding at higher levels than those reflected in the current Baker budget.
Attendees at the event include Senators Rosenberg, Lesser, and Humason; and State Representatives Ashe, Boldyga, Gonzalez, Kocot, Kulik, Mark, Puppolo, Scibak, Smola, Tosado, Vega, Velis, and Whipps Lee.
