Massachusetts Educator Evaluation System

Your journey starts here.

EducEval-Implementing-SmSignpostIn June 2011, the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education adopted new regulations for the evaluation of Massachusetts educators.

The Collaborative for Educational Services (CES) is a state-approved training provider.

We support districts through the process of implementing the state's new Model System for evaluating educators and administrators, delivering to school- and district-level leadership teams DESE-designed training modules, with content tailored to address district needs, priorities, and constraints. With decades of experience providing professional development, coaching, and consultation on program implementation, curriculum mapping, and data analysis, CES understands the challenges educators and administrators face and we offer expertise in supporting district efforts to meet those challenges. We believe the Educator Evaluation System (EES) can be a powerful lever for increased conversation and collaboration that can positively impact teacher effectiveness and student success.

  • Expertise in content and extensive training experience. Collaborative trainers are regular and special education professionals that include current and former teachers, staff developers, principals, superintendents, and specialists.
  • Fidelity to the letter and the spirit of the Massachusetts regulations. Our approach is built in direct response to the Massachusetts Educator Evaluation System and its requirements.
  • A customized program to leverage the work you are already doing. We will help you to develop a plan that integrates the evaluation system with the work already being done in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. District priorities can be integrated into training sessions through the use of exemplars and illustrations that address what matters most to the district.
  • Keeping the focus on student outcomes. Our approach introduces the evaluation system with an emphasis on clear goal-setting, team-guided data analysis, and the collection of quality evidence and artifacts that point to authentic student growth.

EducEval-Flipbook-189x155Educator Evaluation Tour Guide -- This printed and online reference tool supports your training and coaching programs. The Tour Guide makes it easy to see how a single strategy can fulfill the expectations of multiple initiatives -- including the Massachusetts System for Educator Evaluation -- by showing how different programs and initiatives fit together. The Tour Guide is built around the teacher rubric, and illustrates how standards and elements connect to other initiatives, how proficiency is defined for each, what effective practice looks like, and suggests artifacts to demonstrate practice. The guide can be offered as part of customized district training program(s) or may be purchased and used independently.
